Angie Paccione Calls On President To Buck Special Interests, Sign Stem Cell Bill

Marilyn Musgrave voted against disease cures and for special interests.

FORT COLLINS—State Rep. Angie Paccione today called on President Bush to sign H.R. 810, U.S. Rep. Diane DeGette's Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act, and to buck special interests and support federal funding of research into disease cures.

"This is sensible legislation meant to cure diseases like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, diabetes, and heart disease," Paccione said. "This is not a time to cave in to powerful political interests, like Marilyn Musgrave did."

Paccione, who sponsored a state resolution in Colorado that called on the U.S. Senate to support the bill, was pleased that the Senate voted for Americans' health rather than focusing on party politics.

"Lawmakers like Marilyn Musgrave, on the other hand, would rather have Americans suffer from debilitating diseases than stand up to the special interests," Paccione said. "It's time for real leadership for a change."
